Introducing Benjamin’s Smile Campaign
Meet Benjamin, our incredible son. As you can see, Benjamin has the most beautiful, infectious smile — one that lights up every room. But behind that smile is a little boy who faces daily challenges with extraordinary courage and strength.
Benjamin has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and is registered blind. These conditions mean that Benjamin is unable to sit unaided, crawl, stand or walk. Despite this, Benjamin continues to amaze us with his determination, laughter, and love of life.
Through the Charity Just4Children we have set up the Benjamin’s Smile Campaign. We are fundraising to help our son live his life to the fullest — giving him access to the therapies, specialist equipment, and support he needs to grow, move, and thrive.
Our Journey so far
As a family, we have been truly overwhelmed by the kindness and support we’ve received since setting up Benjamin’s Smile in 2018. Thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, and our community, we have been able to purchase a range of specialist equipment that has transformed daily life for Benjamin and for us as a family.
With your support, we’ve been able to buy specialist bath equipment, an adapted trike, and an all-terrain off-road wheelchair, allowing Benjamin to take part in activities that would otherwise have been impossible. Most remarkably, we were able to fund life-changing SDR surgery, which cost over £12,000 and has made a huge difference to Benjamin’s movement and comfort.
All of this has enabled us to function more easily as a family and given Benjamin greater independence and opportunities to join in with the world around him.
However, Benjamin’s condition is lifelong and continually evolving. Each growth spurt brings new challenges — and with them, the need for larger, more advanced equipment. Benjamin now faces another major operation, as his left hip joint is 60% out of its socket, making regular physiotherapy absolutely crucial for his recovery, comfort, and long-term mobility.
How Your Support Will Help
Funds raised through Benjamin’s Smile Campaign will go directly towards providing specialist equipment, therapies, and ongoing support to help Benjamin reach his full potential.
Our first goal is to purchase an Innowalk, a motorised device costing in excess of £27,000, which will allow Benjamin to safely stand and move his body in a walking motion. The Innowalk will not only help strengthen his muscles, improve circulation, and support his overall health — it may also reduce the number of further operations he needs in the future by keeping his body active and supported.
Any additional funds raised will continue to go towards specialist therapies such as physiotherapy and sensory support, along with other essential adaptive equipment that helps Benjamin engage more fully in everyday life.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a genuine difference — helping Benjamin grow stronger, more independent, and continue to share his incredible smile with the world.
As a family, we will never let a diagnosis define Benjamin’s future. We’ve learned to approach our journey with as much positivity as possible, and we hope that by sharing our story, we can offer encouragement and hope to other families facing similar challenges.
